PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - The Steelers say wide receiver Antonio Brown has opted out of the 2019 Pro Bowl due to injury and will be replaced by teammate JuJu Smith-Schuster.

Smith-Schuster finished his second season with 111 catches for 1,426 yards, good enough for third in the AFC . He was also named the Steelers team MVP.

Controversy has surrounded Brown the past year culminating reported spat he had with a teammate days before the team’s final game of the season against the Bengals.

Coach Mike Tomlin said during his final press conference of the season he was unable to get in touch with Brown to find out the status of his knee injury and did not speak with him until the day of the game after Brown’s agent had said he was ready to play. Tomlin said it was too late for Brown to play at that time.

There are also rumors that the Steelers may be trying to trade Brown.

The Pro Bowl is January 27 in Orlando, Florida
