For the second straight day, Penguins forward Derick Brassard went through a full practice with his teammates as they prepare for their opening playoff game against Philadelphia Wednesday night.

“Derick had another real good practice today, so that’s really encouraging from our standpoint, Mike Sullivan said. “We’ll take each day as it comes and we’ll make appropriate decisions for the lineup.”

As was the case Monday, Brassard centered a line with Conor Sheary and Phil Kessel on his wings. This comes after missing the regular season's final five games with a lower-body injury.

“I felt good out there, it was good to be back,” Brassard said. “We’re running some high-paced practices, so it’s obviously good for the tempo of playoff games we’re going to get.”

Brassard also filled a role on the team’s second power play unit. So it seems that, unless there’s a setback, he will make his Penguins playoff debut when the puck drops just after 7 p.m. at PPG Paints Arena.

“It’s an exciting time, there’s obviously some butterflies,” he added. “You’re kind of anxious to get everything started, but at the end of the day, it’s just another game and you have to take one game at a time and you have to focus on what you can control out there. You just play your game and I like our chances.”
