Brault To Sing Anthem Prior To Tuesday's Game

This Will Be 3rd Time The Lefty Will Sing Anthem In Baseball Career

June 19, 2018 - 5:03 pm

Steven Brault on the mound this year is 5-1 with 4.38 ERA and 47 strikeouts, but Tuesday night before Game 2 against the Milwaukee Brewers he is doing something you don't see everyday in the big leagues.

Brault has sung the Anthem twice before in his baseball career prior to a Willmar (MN) Stingers game in 2012 and prior to a game in Aberdeen in 2013.

"It will be fun tonight," said Brault.  "This is another part of my life that I like to keep up all the time. I don't want to just pretend my music career is over, this is something I've always wanted to do."

Brault discusses what goes into the National Anthem, some things you don't want to do when singing the Anthem and what makes it such a hard song to sing.  And when asked whether or not he is nervous prior to singing it tonight.

"I think as I get closer I will get good butterflies, but I don't think it is going to be anything insane though," said Brault.

And he wrapped up talking about whether or not he has been practicing in the clubhouse for the guys leading up to this.

"No, I've been getting a lot of requests to," said Brault.  "But hopefully afterward, they will want me to sing more and not just be like never ever do that ever again."
