PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - Officially a game-time decision Tuesday night, Pens defenseman Brian Dumoulin practiced with the team for a second time in 22 hours.  Evgeni Malkin and Carl Hagelin are also game-time decisions, Malkin went full while Hagelin was wearing a non-contact jersey.

“It was another good skate out there,” Dumoulin said.  “It was good to get a little contact there with (Pens assistant coach Sergei) Gonchar at the end.  Hopefully can go tonight, but will let the coaching staff decide that.”

Dumoulin still has absorbed little contact since he took the big contact from Tom Wilson and Alexander Ovechkin on Sunday.

“No issues at all.  Just going to go through it today like normal and try and come here ready to play.”

Wilson said Tuesday afternoon those plays happen quick and the hit was “unavoidable”.

“I heard he was doing well and that’s good and hopefully we will see him in the lineup tonight,” Wilson said.  “Just kind of an unfortunate play, no intent there at all.  I was pretty shocked to see the replay afterwards.”

“I’ve always prided myself on being an honest player,” Wilson added.  “I try to play the game hard and play it the right way.  There is going to be those collisions in hockey.  It’s one of the fastest games in the world and we’re talking tenths of a second circumstances.”

Pens head coach Mike Sullivan said they are just going to play hockey Tuesday and play their game.  Pittsburgh defenseman Jamie Oleksiak said they must be disciplined.

“I’ve played my whole career with the other team not liking me,” Wilson said.  “It’s the playoffs, the media likes to jump on this and make it a thing, but I think both teams are worried about the game.”

“It’s part of the game,” said Pens forward Zach Aston-Reese.  “It’s something that’s on our minds, but to go out and retaliate could be kind of dumb.”
