PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - Antonio Brown addressed the media Thursday following discipline from Steelers coach Mike Tomlin in connection to his missed meeting on Monday.

“Personal reasons,” Brown said. “Obviously the coach knew where I was at. We talked, between me and him.”

But Brown has still been disciplined, according to Tomlin.

“I let him know,” Brown said. “You can’t just not show up. What do you guys think? You just don’t show up? We have a job. My job is to let everyone know what’s going on with me when I’m not here.”

The punishment, however, appears to be a fine and will not cause him to miss any time Monday night when the Steelers take on Tampa Bay.

“Why wouldn’t I be,” Brown said, after laughing, when asked if he expects to play fully. “You guys don’t want to see me in my jersey?”

Brown was asked about cameras catching him yelling at offensive coordinator Randy Fichtner on the sideline.

“We were losing the game,” Brown said. “We’re getting beat by 40, we haven’t won the game yet. For me, as a Steelers, that’s unacceptable.

“I’m not on the sideline begging for the ball or making statements, as you guys make. I’m pissed off, we losing, we suck.”

But the team was not losing by 40. At the time of the sideline incident, the Steelers were losing 28-21 and Brown was removed from the field for a goal line offense with the ball at the 1-yard line.

"You guys make assumptions about my emotions,” he responded. You guys don't know me at all. You guys just write what you think is gonna get hits. Between me and you, everyone in the locker room knows what I stand for and what I'm about"

The media was unable to get comment from Brown following the game, because he left the locker room before media was allowed to enter.

“You guys write story about everything,” he said. “I’m pissed off, we lost the game. If you guys want to talk to me, let's talk. I'm right here. I'm not hiding from none of you. I don't hide from no one, I'm from Liberty City (Brown’s hometown).”

Brown was again reminded that he was not, in fact, there to speak after the game.

“I was available, I left early,” he said. “I’m pissed off, we lost, we didn’t win the game. Are you guys frustrated? I thought you guys around here are supposed to be writing about winning. The culture should be winning. That’s all that matters. That’s our business, is winning.

“If we’re not winning, I’m pissed off. I’m passionate about winning. I signed up to win. I work extremely hard, put in 20 hours a day of my life and my body, away from my family, to win. And when we don’t, yeah, I’m pissed off, because I take it serious.”

On Monday, instead of being at the Steelers facility, Brown said the he was dealing with the personal matter. But he did fire off a quote-tweet after a former Steelers public relations employee criticized him, saying he is financially and statistically fortunate to be on a team with Ben Roethlisberger. Brown responded, “Trade me let’s find out.”

“But obviously I don’t want to be traded. I’m still grateful to put on my uniform, grateful to be a part of this organization. I don’t take that for granted.

“Obviously it was a stupid remark, online. I just got to stay away from online, with the distractions, and letting people getting me out of my character.”
