PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Winners in their last three, the Pirates will look to complete a four game sweep against Cincinnati at PNC Park on Sunday afternoon. After blowing the lead in the bottom of the eighth inning on Saturday, the Pirates (4-3) were able to come from behind to defeat the Reds (1-7) in the bottom of the tenth after Kevin Newman doubled home Francisco Cervelli for the game winning run.

On the mound for the Bucs this afternoon will be veteran right hander, Chris Archer. Archer shined in his first start of the season, which took place on Monday in the Pirates home opener. Unfortunatley for the Bucs, his five shutout innings, where he allowed just two hits and three walks while striking out eight was not enough to lift Pittsburgh to a win.

Throughout his career, Archer has been solid in the opening month of the season, going 10-9 in 29 career starts with a 3.86 earned run average. Sunday afternoon will be the first Archer will face the Reds in his eight year MLB career. After today, the Tampa Bay Rays, his former club, will be the only team he has yet to pitch against.

Opposing Archer will be right hander, Anthony DeSclafani. In his first start of the season, DeSclafani shined, allowing just one run in five innings, striking out eight while only walking three. DeSclafani has nine career starts against the Bucs where he as a record of 2-4 with a 3.83 ERA. This afternoon, he will face the Pirates for the tenth time which will be more than he has pitched against any other big league team.

Following todays contest, the Pirates will pack up and head to the windy city to begin a three game series against the Chicago Cubs, which will include a Monday afternoon matchup that is the Cubs home opener. After that, the Bucs will play a three game road series in Washington D.C. and then a two game set in Detroit before returning home for a six game homestand which begins Easter weekend.
