Sportsnet NHL Analyst Doug MacLean joined the Cook and Poni Show on Monday to discuss the landscape of the NHL after the trade deadline and he thinks the Pens did very well in picking up Derick Brassard.

But did he mind giving up Ian Cole to make it happen?

“No…No I didn’t,” MacLean said. “He was a valuable guy but he didn’t seem to be fitting in this year.”

MacLean also was a big fan of the extension for Patric Hornqvist saying he means a lot to this team for the way he plays on all lines.

“You look where they put him and that is usually the best line.” MacLean added.

So it would appear that he is high on the Pens…but are they his favorite to win the East?

“I Like them and I am a fan of Sid,” MacLean said. “I never bet against them.”
