As the Penguins get set to play a key game tonight against the hated Philadelphia Flyers in Philly our Insider Bob Grove joins the Cook and Poni Show to reflect on the game and the series history.

Grove has some thoughts on the game tonight but also his most hated Flyers of yesterday and today.

The Pens have been on a surge and could be playing tonight for a share of the division lead but that doesn’t mean all is well.

There has never been a team that has been 22nd in the league in goals against to win a Stanley Cup and that is where the current Pens sit.

So is this team capable of winning a 3rd straight Stanley Cup with those kind of numbers against them?

“Right now they are not,” Grove said. “The bottom pairings have simply not been good enough and it was not addressed at the trade deadline.”

But as Grove points having a healthy Matt Murray return to the lineup would be a huge help.

“That would make a huge difference,” Grove added. “But the forwards also have to do more defensively.”
