BRADENTON, FL (93.7 The Fan) - The Pirates have a big star coming to work out with the club, but it isn’t a baseball star.

Country legend Garth Brooks will join the Bucs in Bradenton for a few workouts to support his Teammates for Kids foundation.

Brooks started Teammates for Kids 20 years ago with Bo Mitchell to help support pediatric hospitals, sports and recreation for inner city kids and educational opportunities for those less fortunate.

Brooks said Monday afternoon he was honored to be working out with the Pirates. "This has been my team since I was a kid."

Brooks has spent time working with clubs like the Padres and the Mets in the past.

Brooks is also a big Steelers fan and will play Heinz Field on May 18.
