PITTSBURGH (93.7 The FAN) - James Conner's 31 carries for 135 yards and two touchdowns certainly impressed in his debut as the Steelers starter although his fumble late in the game has left some with a bitter taste in their mouth.

Despite that, it sounds like some fans are convinced the future is here and Le'Veon Bell is expendable to this team.

The PM Team of Andrew Fillipponi and Chris Mueller explored this idea and if it's true and Chris Mueller posted a poll question asking this very question here.

"No!  Absolutely not!" Chris Mueller said when asked if Bell is now expendable to this team.  Chris added that after the fumble, Conner and the offense "went into a turtle shell" and that's not something that would happen with Bell in there.

Andrew agrees that Conner's performance doesn't make Bell expendable, but he does wonder what difference he would have made in this game given that it took him some time to knock off the rust last year.

"Where was he last year?" Fillipponi asked in regards to Bell's meager performance against the Browns in week one of the 2017 season when he rushed 10 times for just 32 yards.

As for Conner's performance, Andrew does agree with Chris that he doesn't think Bell would have fumbled in that critical moment.
