PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - What started out as a spat on Twitter has ended up already raising thousands of dollars for children.

It started when Steelers wide receiver and return specialist Ryan Switzer took exception to a tweet that Fan Morning Show co-host Colin Dunlap sent out during Sunday’s game.

Dunlap responded to Switzer with an olive branch:

And after a great suggestion Switzer had his charity of choice:

So what could've ended as a negative has become a positive for young children dealing with cancer.

Steelers linebacker and many others have already donated to The Ryan Switzer Reception Challenge.

It turns out social media can be used for great things!

UPDATE: The challenge has already crushed the original $5,000 goal without Switzer even making a catch yet! So they've increased the goal to $10,000. Let's help the kids!
