PITTSBURGH (93.7 the Fan) – Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin expects James Conner and JuJu Smith-Schuster to practice this week.

Watch NFL games now on fuboTV.

Then they will see how they make out with their shoulder and knee injuries respectfully.  Running back Jaylen Samuels is dealing with a groin injury and tight end Vance McDonald is in concussion protocol with no further information given.

Tomlin said he’s not sure how Conner would work into the running back rotation saying “that’s a big if” of him returning this week.  Tomlin did acknowledge that they know what Conner brings to the game.

Last week Joe Haden pulled back the curtain a bit in telling us that Tomlin is more involved in day-to-day activities than any coach he has been around.  Tomlin asked Tuesday about his relationships with players.

“Man, if I’m awake and in this building, I’m meeting with somebody,” Tomlin said.

“I live by a creed ‘no job too small’,” Tomlin added.  “We all have to roll our sleeves up and be prepared to ante up and kick in.  But those are just words, the actions are more important and I like to display that.”

“I have a bunch of these little personal relationships that I have.  I meet with DBs, I meet with linebackers, I meet with quarterbacks on Wednesday mornings at 7:30.”

“It’s not anything unique or new that is happening in that regard.  We are not paid by the hour.  Our job is to win and I enjoy what I do.”
