New York Times Adam Zagoria reports Pitt associate head coach Tim O’Toole is “in the mix” for the Fordham basketball head coaching position.  Former UCLA and St. John's head coach Steve Lavin is also under consideration.

O’Toole was a head coach at his alma mater, Fairfield, for eight years going 112-121.  The New York native was a four-year letter winner at Fairfield, a part of two NCAA tournament teams and in the school’s Hall of Fame.

The 56 year-old O’Toole has history with the Rams, he was a graduate assistant there in 1987.  He also spent two years getting his MBA in finance from Fordham in 1990 and taught classes in Fordham’s Graduate School of Business.

Prior to Pitt, O’Toole has been on the basketball staffs at Duke, Syracuse, Iona, Stanford and California.

Pitt boasts of being one of only two schools in Division 1 to have three full-time assistant coaches who were also former head coaches.
