Pittsburgh (93.7 The Fan) - These are the dog days of NFL  training camps with the start of the season more than two weeks away,  but you won't hear any complaints from Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey.  Preparing for his eighth season, Pouncey really seems to be enjoying himself.

"It's fine, man," Pouncey said good-naturedly after Wednesday's afternoon practice at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex.  "It's all a part of football, and coach does a good job taking care of us and getting us the right reps that we need for the season, so I just take it and run with it."

On Saturday the Steelers will host the Tennessee Titans, and this third preseason game  is typically the one that sees the starters get extended playing time.  Pouncey wouldn't say how many snaps he expects to play, but he's ready for whatever comes his way.

"You know, I'm just ready to get out there and play a little football.  You always just try to approach it to see who's going to come out and shine the most."   You just try to get a groove for the offense and how things are going to go for the season.  It's a good way to look at film and kind of judge how the start of the season is going to come off."

Pouncey said this game is also a good indication of which young guys will "step up to the plate."  One such player certainly has caught his eye--second year running back James Conner.

"Man, he's in really great shape," Pouncey said.  "He's running the ball excellently.  His pass blocking is really excellent."

As much as Conner has impressed him, Pouncey can't get another running back out of his mind.

When asked what he wishes for in this next game, besides good health,  Pouncey said, "maybe LeVeon Bell flies with us."  And with that he let out an extended loud laugh, showing again how much he's enjoying his summer.
