Pittsburgh (93.7 The Fan) - He was a very pleasant surprise during the Steelers preseason, and now rookie outside linebacker Ola Adeniyi is hoping to show enough in practice to be activated for the stretch run.  On Wednesday, the Steelers announced that Adeniyi was placed on the team's Reserved Injured: Designated to Return List. That means he will practice over a 21-day period after which the Steelers will decide whether or not to add him to the 53-man roster.

Adeniyi had spent the first 11 weeks of the season on the Reserved/Injured List following a hamstring injury in the final preseason game.  It was during the preseason that the free agent rookie from Toledo had drawn comparisons to James Harrison beyond wearing the number 92 jersey made famous by the former All-Pro linebacker.  Adeniyi had three sacks in four preseason games.

The Steelers have carried only three outside linebackers on the roster--T.J. Watt, Bud Dupree and Anthony Chickillo.
