PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - The preseason kicks off Thursday night when the Steelers travel to Philadelphia to face the defending Super Bowl Champion Eagles.

The Quarterback battle will be one to watch as there are 4 guys playing for 3 spots. Former Steelers QB Brad Gradkowski joined the Cook and Poni Show on Thursday afternoon to breakdown who and what we should be watching for.

There is no doubt that Ben Roethlisberger will be the starter but out of Landry Jones, Josh Dobbs and Mason Rudolph who will back him up?

Rudolph who was drafted in the 3rd round could be a dark horse candidate over Jones and Gradkowski can see why they made the choice to take him so high in the draft.

"I was happy to see them do it," Gradkowski said. "At some point you have to start preparing for Ben Roethlisberger's replacement."

He says Rudolph is a perfect fit for this organization and has the best situation to join of all QBs taken in the draft this year because he can sit back and learn before being handed the ropes.

He says that Rudolph and Dobbs will get the most playing time through this preseason.

So does that mean Landry Jones is his favorite to back up Ben?

"I think it's the smart way to go with Jones," Gradkowski said. "Landry Jones has been around awhile. His progression has been tremendous."

He added that with Ben being the starter and Mason Rudolph as a high draft pick is not going anywhere...the battle is really between Jones and Dobbs and his pick is Jones.
