PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - A day after being selected to his first All-Star Game, Penguins forward Jake Guentzel is all but done for the season.

General Manager Jim Rutherford announced Tuesday morning that Guentzel had successful shoulder surgery after sustaining an injury in Monday night’s victory against the Senators.

He will miss four to six months.

Guentzel tripped and fell awkwardly into the boards after scoring his 20th goal of the season late in the Penguins 5-2 victory against Ottawa.

The 25-year-old Guentzel, leads the Pens in goals with 20 and points with 43.

The Penguins have been ravaged with injuries this season with Bryan Rust and Evgeni Malkin missing significant time at the beginning of the season.
