PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan)- The bye week or off week or whatever you want to call it in the regular season schedule is often a time for a team, and its fan base for that matter, to reflect on the season so far without having game action to worry about.

The Fan Morning Show did just that on Thursday morning and tried to determine just where the Steelers stand among the AFC's top teams through six weeks of the season.

Colin Dunlap and Chris Mack separated the teams into tiers. As it stands now, only the Kansas City Chiefs (5-1) and the New England Patriots (4-2) are in the very top tier in the conference.

Then, they looked at each division. The AFC South is just a mess right now with no teams above .500 and the Titans, Texans and Jaguars all tied at the top at 3-3. The guys say the Steelers are better than each of these teams right now, although Jim Colony cautioned against looking past Jacksonville considering their history against the Steelers and their defense.

The AFC East offers a whole lot of nothing outside of New England. Nobody is buying Miami as a legitimate contender despite its 4-2 record. The AFC West has an intriguing team behind Kansas City in the LA Chargers (4-2) but Jim and Chris threw buckets of cold water on the team because they don't believe Philip Rivers can take them to elite levels.

So, that leaves the AFC North.

Are the Bengals (4-2) and/or Ravens (4-2) better than the Steelers (3-2-1)?

The guys were all in agreement that neither team is better than Pittsburgh. Colin said that despite Cincinnati beating Baltimore and the Ravens losing to Cleveland this season, the Ravens are a better team than the Bengals. What's interesting is that both divisional foes face tough opponents this week as the Ravens host the Saints (4-1) and the Bengals go to Arrowhead to play the AFC-elite Chiefs. So if things break the Steelers way and they both lose, all of the sudden the Steelers are in first place.

Consensus? The Steelers aren't among the very best in the conference. Yet.

Win these next two games against Cleveland and Baltimore though...and the discussion is worth having again.
