PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - Luke Heimlich was projected to be a high-round pick in 2017 but went undrafted and returned for his senior season at Oregon State. He then went 15-1 with a 2.42 ERA this year for the Beavers.

Why did he go undrafted? It was reported days before by The Oregonian that Heimlich had been arrested as a 16 year-old and pled guilty to molesting his 5-year old niece when he was 15. He said in a Sports Illustrated interview that he only pled guilty to avoid jail time, not because he actually did it. His family members refute his claim that he is innocent.

This year Heimlich is again being passed up by MLB teams in the draft and through the first two days has not found a team willing to take a chance on him.

So, The Fan Morning Show asked today: If you were an MLB GM would you draft him?

Colin Dunlap and Jim Colony debated this and for Colin there is no debate. If he was a MLB executive, he would shut this down and not even look Heimlich's way. He says the horrific nature of this crime and the media scrutiny that would come with employing him would be enough for him to steer clear.

Jim Colony believes that some MLB team is going to take him but he doesn't know if he would have the guts to do it if he were in a position to. The guys believe that if there is such a thing as collusion among teams on what guys they are/aren't going to take, this would be a situation in which it would come into play.

Callers were leaning toward "no" in whether or not they would draft him but still some said that Heimlich was just a kid and that he deserves an opportunity to find success and steer his life in the right direction.

America has been known as the land of second chances, but has this crossed a line to where a second chance isn't merited?
