As the Steelers open mandatory mini-camp there is only one player not to report and it should come as no surprise that RB Le’Veon Bell is a no-show and Hall of Fame RB Jerome Bettis told Cook and Poni it’s not that big of a deal.

“It’s not necessary to be totally honest with you,” Bettis said. “It’s really for the younger guys and it’s not significant.”

But Bettis did point out that Bell should be there for training camp which Bell has already threatened to skip for the second straight year.

Bell is still looking for a long-term deal with the Steelers and Bettis agrees that he should be able to work out a deal for what he feels he is worth.

“Absolutely,” Bettis added. “He has the right to feel he is worth a certain number.”

Bettis also pointed out to the guys that sometimes the number a player is seeking doesn’t marry to the value he is worth and what the team is willing to pay.
