April 26, 2018 - 10:18 am

Pirates Pitcher Chad Kuhl has come up big in his past two starts as he has been the "stopper" and helped the team end losing streaks and get back into the win column.  Kuhl came up big in the 2nd game ofthe doubleheader to help the Pirates have a chance to win this series this (Thursday) afternoon against the Tigers.

"Huge to split this doubleheader and have a chance to win this series tomorrow," said Kuhl.  "(It's big to) Stop the streak and just be able to win and get out of here tonight feeling good and hopefully it carries over to tomorrow."

Kuhl also talked about how you want to be the pitcher that your team can rely on each and every time you take the mound.  "All you can want as a starting pitcher is to have that reputation, you want to be a winner and go out there and do what you know you can do."

Kuhl has also had to battle through some innings in his past few starts, but each tough inning in his past few starts he ended the inning limiting the opposing teams damage against him.

"It just (comes down to) execution, when things are going haywire and guys are on base, you try to enhance," said Kuhl.  "But, (the offense) scoring a couple more (insurance) runs and taking the pressure off to be able to just go out and just focus on executing and whatever happens, happens."

Chad Kuhl has been one of the more consistent starters for this team over the first month of the season and if he can keep pitching like he is, the depth of this rotation may be even deeper than everyone thought it would be before the season started.
