SARVER, PA (93.7 The Fan) – Michael Norris is back in a familiar place – victory lane at Lernerville Speedway.

“The Crusher Kid” took the checkered flag in Friday night’s World of Outlaws Morton Building Late Model Series Firecracker 100 preliminry 30-lap main event at The Action Track.

Norris set the second fastest qualifying time, won his heat race, started third in the main event, led 26-laps and survived several cautions to take home the $6,000-event prize.

Norris, the two-time and defending track champion, picked up a preliminary win last year, marking the first time a local late model driver was able to beat the World of Outlaws touring regulars.

The back-to-back visits to victory lane are reversal of fortunes for Norris, who blew an engine a few weeks ago at The Dream at Eldora Speedway followed by suspension failure the next night at Lernerville.

That misfortune forced Norris to park his family-owned equipment and strike-up a deal with car owner Todd Cerenzia of Canonsburg.

The pairing produced immediate results as Norris won the main event in the mid-season championship last Friday night at Lernerville.  Norris’ win secured a provisional in tonight’s Firecracker 100, $30,000-to-win finale.

Pole-sitter Mason Zeigler finished second and Brandon Sheppard rounded out the podium.

The Firecracker 100 activities began at noon today with the LUNGevity Foundation Kick-it to Cancer Kickball game and door panel auction followed at 4 p.m. by the drivers autograph session. Hot laps start at 6:15 p.m.
