Mississippi State Coach Wants Dan Marino To Follow Him On Twitter

BIRMINGHAM, Al (93.7 the Fan) – Pittsburgh native and Mississippi State head football coach Joe Moorhead used the podium at SEC Media Days to plead.

Not for players or facility upgrades, or an easier schedule or more money, rather Moorhead wants a Twitter follow from Dan Marino.

“If Dan is out there and he’s an SEC fan, if he’s listening, I sure would appreciate a follow back @ballcoachjoemo,” Moorhead said Wednesday.  “And if I do get that follow back, I would like to invite you to a game in Starkville and as Pittsburgh people know, I will have a cold case of Iron City on ice waiting for him.”

Moorhead was a quarterback after Marino at Central Catholic and grew up idolizing the Hall of Famer.  Moorhead said he had posters of Marino and wore number 13 until his junior year in high school, when Central Catholic retired it to honor Marino.

“Since he forced me out of his number in high school, I figured that the least he could do is hit me with a follow back,” Moorhead said.

A former offensive coordinator at Penn State before leaving for Mississippi, Moorhead will be in Pittsburgh this weekend.  The football coach wants to be at the Pirates game Saturday where they honor the 1979 World Series champions, a team so close to him, he can recite the starting lineup from 40 years ago.

Moorhead was told of the Pirates score against the Cardinals during his news conference Wednesday, to which he responded, “Let’s Go Bucs”.
