PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - Insider Jonathan Mayo opened up Tuesday on The PM Team about the Pirates situation at this deadline based off of what MLB Network Insider Jon Morosi reported, saying the Pirates could possibly talk the Dodgers into a deal that would move Vazquez for Dustin May and Keibert Ruiz .

Listen to your team news NOW.

“Would they be better off with Ruiz and another player? You can make that argument since there is no catching in the Pirates system,” said Mayo.

Ruiz is an offensive catcher but isn't bad defensively according to Mayo.

Mayo doesn’t believe Dustin May is better than Mitch Keller but, “they’re in the same ballpark.”

“He’s a power guy. He’s a front of the rotation guy. He’s the kind of guy you want to build your rotation around eventually.”

The original report has been Huntington wants Gavin Lux if he trades Vazquez to the Dodgers.

“If I’m the Dodgers I wouldn’t trade Gavin Lux for Felipe Vazquez," said Mayo.

He wouldn't make that trade because of how good Lux could be based off his numbers in triple A with the Dodgers.

If the Dodgers moved Lux what would the Pirates infield look like?

“He is good enough defensively at both of those positions. He will be an above average up the middle player. Then they need to decide what to do with Newman or Tucker,” said Mayo.
