Ford Chip Ganassi Racing is off to a good start for this weekend’s 86th running of the 24-Hours of Le Mans endurance race at the Circuit de la Sarthe.  All four Ford GT’s qualified in the top 11 of the 17-car GTE Pro division for the twice-around-the-clock race.

The No. 66 Ford GT, driven by Stefan Mücke, Olivier Pla and Billy Johnson, qualified third with a time of 3:49.181 during the late night qualifying session on Wednesday.

“It’s always good to start near the front and I think we have the right set-up for the race,” said Pla, who along with Mücke and Johnson are coming off a victory in the 6-hours of Spa in early May.  “It’s going to be one of the hardest Le Mans 24 Hours for a long time, but we are ready for it.”

The No. 68 Ford GT, driven by Joey Hand, Sebastien Bourdais and Dirk Müller, qualified fifth with a time of 3:49.582.  This trio is hoping to repeat their performance from 2016, when they won the race on the 50th anniversary of the Ford GT40’s Le Mans victory in 1966.

“It’s been tricky here for sure,” said Hand.  “We rolled off at the test and we were really good.  We have been trying to work on having a great car for the race here.  We’ve been successful in the past doing that. This year, with the 17 GTE Pro cars, it’s going to take everything going right.  This race is going to be won by the guys who make no mistakes.”

The No. 69 Ford GT, driven by Ryan Briscoe, Richard Westbrook and Scott Dixon, qualified seventh with a time of 3:49.761.  This trio won the 2018 Rolex 24-Hours at Daytona GTLM class and are going for a rare 24 Hour double victory.

The No. 67 Ford GT, driven by Harry Tincknell, Andy Priaulx and Tony Kanaan will start 11th after turning a time of 3:50.429 around the 8.467-mile course.

The 86th running of the Le Mans 24 Hours start Saturday at 9 a.m. ET (3 p.m. in France) and will be televised in the U.S. on the Velocity network and carried on  Ford fans can enjoy a six-camera Livestream at that will run all 24 hours.
