PITTSBURGH (93.7 The FAN) - James Conner missed the game against the Indianapolis Colts with his AC joint strain and joined The PM Team for The James Conner Show to update us on his status and if he was close to playing this past week.

"No, I wasn't able to practice throughout the week...I really just attacked rehab all week."

Asked about the Adam Schefter report that the Steelers were concerned about his long-term status, James says "I know where my body is in terms of how it's feeling.  I guess they had reason to be concerned after the injury first happened, but I don't look at it as long-term."

James told us last week that this is the type of injury that takes time to heal, and reiterated that this week.

"Reaching across my body and being extended, I do a lot more than just hold the football.  For me to be my best out there, I want to have the strength and range of motion, so it just takes time and I'm making great progress.  I attacked rehab earlier today."

We asked James what he's looking at this week then as he strives to get back on the field.

"It's going to be the same thing every week.  Hopefully when I go to sleep, I wake up and hope I feel a little better...I don't like missing games at all."
