PITTSBURGH (93.7 The FAN) - Steelers running back James Conner joined The PM Team with Andrew Fillipponi and Chris Mueller for The James Conner Show and immediately updated us on his status as the team gets ready for their Thursday night AFC North matchup with the Cleveland Browns.

"The shoulder has been feeling better and me not playing last game gave it some more time to heal up. We're gonna try it out.  I think it'll be good."

Playing on a short week should benefit James given that he was out last week and he talked about having fresh legs going into a Thursday night game.

"It's a fast turnaround for both teams and so you've got to recover as best as you can."

With the Steelers defense being one of the best in the league this year, we ask James what he has seen from them up close from them and when he knew it could be a special unit.

"We have talent all around defensively.  Back in training camp our defense was flying all around and looking solid.  Early on in the season, seeing the potential and the growing with the additions we made...then obviously when Minkah got with us, it just kind of flipped a switch and really took us to a new level."
