Post-Gazette Pirates Insider Jason Mackey told the Cook and Joe Show on Tuesday he doesn’t like how the schedule stacks up for the Pirates who may were looking to surprise some in a short sprint of a season.

Mackey says the Pirates schedule is front loaded and has them starting with the divisions best right off the bat….and he says a case can be made that the NL Central could be the toughest division in baseball and the Pirates will face those teams 40 times to make up the 60 game schedule…the remaining 20 games will be Interleague play which will have the Pirates playing in Cleveland to end the season.

Based on last year’s results the Pirates open with the second toughest schedule behind the New York Mets.
