PITTSBURGH (93.7 The FAN) - Jeff Capel's reputation at Duke was as one of the top recruiters in the country and it hasn't taken very long for Pitt to see that his reputation was well earned.

Capel received a committment from 4-star recruit Trey McGowens, a 6-foot-3 guard that had offers from other schools such as Clemson, Mississippi, Minnesota and St. John's.

The Starkey and Mueller Show weighed in on the signing.

"He gets a guy that's pretty unanimously it seems a top 100 recruit, a 4-star recruit, which would be the programs first since Michael Young," Mueller pointed out.

Chris added, "Bottomline, it seems like this is a very good thing obviously for a 4-star player with some real talent and potential to be brought in and it feels to me like besides the fact that it's a good player on paper that they're bringing in, it's a guy that suddenly you say, 'Hey, Pitt just got somebody that a lot of other real programs wanted.'"

Starkey said that "For Capel to start with this is encouraging and I think cause for excitement if you're a Pitt fan."
