Verizon IndyCar Series driver Tony Kanaan turned the fastest lap during Miller Lite Carb Day Friday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.  Kanaan's lap of 227.791 mph in the No. 14 ABC Supply A.J. Foyt Racing Chevrolet was the final chance for the 2013 Indy 500 winner and the rest of the field of 33 to fine-tune the set-up for race day.

"I think this is the closest that we're going to get as far as weather for Sunday," Kanaan said.  "So we tried to optimize that and run in the heat conditions and see what we are going to do."

Scott Dixon was second fastest in the No. 9 PNC Bank Chip Ganassi Racing Honda with a speed of 225.684 around the 2.5-mile oval.

"Overall, the car felt good and we were comfortable,"  Dixon said.  "You just never know exactly what you're going to have until you get into the race."

Third generation driver Marco Andretti was third fastest at 225.220 mph in the U.S. Concrete Honda for Andretti Autosport.  Sebastien Bourdais was fourth at 224.815 and Charlie Kimball rounded out the top 5 at 224.712.

Danica Patrick turned only 15-laps due to an electrical issue on the No. 13 GoDaddy Ed Carpenter Racing Chevrolet.

"We had a little bit of an electrical issue, but our team was able to get me back out there before practice is over," Patrick said.  "At the end of the day, these are things you're actually glad for, because if this had happened on Sunday, we would have been done."

The 102nd running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil takes place Sunday at Noon.
