PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - With the trade of Corey Dickerson at the MLB Trade Deadline earlier this week, that could open up some more playing time for Pittsburgh Pirates INF/OF Jose Osuna as he looks to add to his role on this team.

"It's always a bummer to see a teammate go, but I have been working hard and very diligently for these opportunies," said Osuna thru translator. "If now is the time and my time is came, then I'm ready. I'm ready to be here for this team and do everything possible to help them get some victories.

Osuna is batting .292 with 7 doubles, 7 home runs and 18 RBI in 47 games with the Pirates this season and has provided instant offense for the Pirates off the bench.

"I think that what's really working out for me is not only experience, but just my preperation, my mentality, my maturity and my routine," said Osuna thru translator.

He got the start for the Pirates at third base Friday night in the first game of the series against the New York Mets.

Also prior to the the game Friday night, Osuna discussed his thoughts on the suspension he received from Major League Baseball after the brawl in Cincinnati.

"I thought it was going to be less games, I mean we're going to argue it, but I thought it was going to be less games," said Osuna thru translator. "What I did was defend my teammates, at the end of the day what a saw was a guy rushing my teammates and just my nature and the way that I am, my mentality and my heart toward these guys is I'm going to defend them, I'm going to stand up for them. It's not the first time, it's not going to be the last time."
