PITTSBURGH (93.7 The FAN) - He's currently second in the league and points and third in goals and he just keeps piling up the awards this season.

Pens center Evgeni Malkin has been named the NHL's Third Star Of The Week along with Winnipeg's Patrik Laine and Boston's Brad Marchand.

Malkin earned his place on the list by tying for the league lead in points with eight in four games.

The team rode Malkin's most recent hot streak to the the of a 3-1 record last week and they now find themselves atop the Metropolitan division.

This is the fourth time this season that Malkin has appeared on the monthly or weekly "NHL Star" list.

As Malkin's hot play continues, he's looking to win the third scoring title of his career, having already won that honor in the 2009 and 2012 seasons.  If Malkin were to win the award for a third time, he'd become the NHL's 9th player in league history to achieve such a feat.
