PITTSBURGH (93.7 The FAN) - In the 3 months he was up with the Pirates, Austin Meadows was arguably the best player on the roster, but now finds himself in AAA with the Indianapolis Indians.

Meadows joined The Starkey and Mueller Show to talk about his demotion and admits he was "confused" by the decision.

"In that Dodgers series the weekend before everything happened, I started those three games, played a lot in San Diego as well, and then kind of was off a couple of days...I was a little bit confused about what was going on."

Meadows added that he "felt good" the entire time he was up here and that while he did cool off a bit, but that's how it is in the majors and you just play your way through that.

So does Meadows think he should still be here?

In one word, "ya."

Meadows also said "I was supposed to be up there seven to ten days with Starling on the DL and I forced the Pirates hand into kind of keeping me up there...I felt like I earned the right to stay up there personally."

When asked if he thinks his Super 2 status had anything to do with the decision he said "I'm not sure.  For me I just try to focus on baseball.  Obviously that's in their hands to worry about the business side of things and I can't give you an answer on that.  For me, it's just try to go out there and focus on baseball and not try to worry about the business side of things."
