PITTSBURGH (93.7 The FAN) - It was announced on Tuesday that the Steelers signed former Green Bay Packer safety Morgan Burnett to replace the recently cut Mike Mitchell.

To learn more about Burnett, The Starkey and Mueller Show put in a call to Green Bay Packers beat writer Ryan Wood of The Green Bay Press-Gazette.

"When healthy, he's a solid starter," Wood told us.  "The real calling card for his game has been his versatility.  The Packers, in the past couple of years, dropped him into the box.  He's really that kind of new-wave Safety that can be that stud linebacker."

When asked about his ability to turn the ball over, Wood described him as "more of a tackler than an interceptor."  Wood went on to say he thinks Burnett would fit well in the Steelers secondary alongside Sean Davis.

While Burnett is a good player on the field, Wood told us he can bring a lot to the team off it as well.

"He's a very quiet guy, an unassuming guy, but a guy who, when you were in the locker room, younger teammates always seemed to flock to...he is a really good locker room guy."
