PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan/AP) - The NFL is suspending Cleveland running back Kareem hunt for eight games for violating the league’s personal conduct policy.

Hunt was released by the Chiefs last season after video evidence surfaced that showed the star running back knocking over a woman and kicking her in a Cleveland hotel.

The Browns signed Hunt in early February, knowing he could still face a suspension.

Cleveland general manager John Dorsey, who drafted Hunt while working for Kansas City, said when they signed Hunt the Browns "fully understand and respect the complexity of questions and issues in signing a player with Kareem's history and do not condone his actions."

ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter tweeted out a statement from Hunt’s agent that said in part, “PFS Agency stands behind our client, Kareem Hunt, hi his decision to accept the suspension handed down by the NFL today.”

Hunt was the league’s lead rusher in 2017, his rookie year, with 1,327 yards and was the Chiefs top offensive weapon when he was released in November.
