Bradenton, FL (93.7 The Fan) - The Pirates will play the first of 15 Grapefruit League games at LECOM Park Sunday, when they host the Miami Marlins at 1:05. It will be the Marlins first visit to Bradenton since 1993.  The game can be heard on 93.7 The Fan.

Nick Kingham, in the mix for the fifth starting spot along with a handful of other pitchers, is scheduled to star for the Pirates.

."Every single spring training I've been to, I've been in competition for something," Kingham said.  "It's really no different.  It's just on a grander (scale).  I'm just going to go about the same way I know how."

Francisco Liriano, Dovydas Neverauskas, Nick Burdi, Alex McRae and Dario Agrazal are scheduled to follow Kingham to the mound.  The Marlins will start Trevor Richards.

The Pirates opened their spring schedule with a 3-2 win over the Phillies in Clearwater on Saturday.  Steven Brault, another candidate for the rotation, pitched two scoreless innings.  Jason Martin hit a 2-run home run.
