PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan)- Maybe it took a pandemic and a sports shutdown to give it the attention it deserved, but Colin Dunlap and Chris Mack of The Fan Morning Show are now dedicated to righting a sports uniform wrong.

Since 1997, the Steelers have used rounded numbers on their jerseys as their primary look. A look, according to them, that doesn't represent the iconic franchise properly.

Colin Dunlap put it this way.

"The Pittsburgh Steelers are a franchise that's iconic, historical, a mainstay not just in the NFL but in all of sports. They're like the Green Bay Packers. They're like the Montreal Canadiens. They're like the Yankees. I'm not overstepping it when I say they're a brand like that.

It's one thing if you get a ring around your socks wrong or it's one thing if you're wearing the wrong shoelaces. Those are all minor details. How they get something so big so wrong, blows me away. They simply wear the wrong jerseys. The Steelers wear the wrong jerseys when they have the right ones at their disposal."

Chris Mack added, "And they've been doing it for 23 years and somehow we've let it slide. If you're under the age of 30, it's entirely likely you don't have active memories of the block numbers. If you look at them as legitimate throwbacks, then we can get you on board this bandwagon and all of us oldheads who are 40 and older and remember the block numbers and remember the classic, crisp look of a Steelers jersey with the block numbers, we can all get together and we can make this happen.

There's certain things you just don't mess with. We had our fun for the last 20 years, we had our fling, it's out of our system now. Give us the block numbers back."

The guys took to Twitter immediately following the discussion and are using #BringBackTheBlock to get things going in this direction.

Are you on the block number bandwagon?
