Pedro Alverez Signs Minor League Contract With Miami

The former Bucco was designated for assignment by Baltimore last season

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - Former Pirates third baseman Pedro Alvarez, who was designated for assignment by the Baltimore Orioles last season, has signed a minor league contract with the Miami Marlins. 

Alvarez will be a non-roster invitee to Spring Training. The Marlins also invited 13 other players including pitcher R.J. Alvarez, outfielder Gabriel Guerrero and catcher Brian Holaday.

In 45 games last year, Alvarez had 8 home runs, 18 RBIs and batted .180.

His best year was in 2013 with the Bucs when he hit 36 homeruns, 100 RBI’s and batted .233. His final season with Pittsburgh was 2015.
