Penguins Jersey Auction Raises $20k For Those Impacted By Coronavirus

Four local charities will each receive $5,000

Pens Foundation To Auction St Patrick's Day Jersey In Fight Against Coronavirus

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - The Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation have announced a $20,000 donation to help those impacted by the coronavirus outbreak after an auction of the team’s never-worn green St. Patrick’s Day jerseys.

Donations of $5,000 each are being distributed to the following charities:

Pittsburgh Community Food Bank
Western PA Diaper Bank
Rainbow Kitchen
Salvation Army carry-out program

The Penguins say in a release that the donation to the Salvation Army will result in 1,700 meals in one week.

“We want to thank our fans for once again coming through to assist residents of our community who are in need at this difficult time,” said Jim Britt, executive director of the Penguins Foundation.
