PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - The Penguins sent defenseman Chad Ruhwedel to the Wilke-Barre Scranton Friday on a conditioning assignment.

The 28-year-old has played in 11 games for the Pens this season with no goals or assists.

Ruhwedel will remain on the Penguins’ 23 man active roster and is considered the team’s eighth defenseman.

The trip to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton will give Ruhwedel some playing time with the Baby Pens playing three games in the next four days.

In three seasons with the Pens he has four goals and 13 assists over 122 games.
