Penguins Trade Olli Maatta To Blackhawks For Dominik Kahun, Draft Pick

Olli is heading to Chicago.

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - The Pittsburgh Penguins announced on Saturday that they have acquired Chicago Blackhawks’ forward Dominik Kahun and a 2019 fifth-round draft pick in exchange for Olli Maatta.

The 23-year-old, 5-foot-11 Kahun is coming off his rookie season, where he recorded 37 points (13 G-24 A) in 82 games, averaging 14:09 minutes per game for the Blackhawks. He finished the year plus-10, making him the best among the Blackhawks forwards and third overall on the team.

"Dominik had a great rookie season with the Blackhawks," said Penguins’ general manager Jim Rutherford. "He is a speedy, versatile player capable of playing all three forward positions. He also saw time on Chicago's power-play and penalty killing units. We are very excited for him to join our team."

Kahun will be a restricted free agent at the end of next season as he enters the final year of his entry-level contract, carrying an average annual value of $925,000.

The Penguins will also get a 2019 fifth-round draft pick, giving the Pens six selections in the 2019 NHL Draft.
