PITTSBURGH (93.7 the Fan) – Pens have re-signed defenseman Juuso Riikola for next season for $850, 000.

The 25 year-old Riikola played in 37 NHL games in 2018-19 with two goals and three assists and was a plus-three.

“Juuso has adjusted to the North American style of hockey seamlessly,” said assistant general manager Bill Guerin in a team release. “He’s a very confident guy, and he’s also a great skater that moves the puck really well. We expect him to make an even bigger impact this year.”

Riikola has played internationally for his native Finland, including being teammates with Olli Maatta on the 2013 Finish World Junior Championship squad.
