PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Following a tough loss on Friday night Pittsburgh is back in action this evening as they will take on Oakland in the second of a three game series in Interleague play at PNC Park. After jumping out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning, the Pirates (14-15) went onto allow 14 unanswered runs to an Athletics (15-19) team that could simply do no wrong at the plate.

On the mound tonight for the Pirates will be right hander, Trevor Williams. In six starts this season Williams has one win, one loss, and an earned run average of 3.38. Last time out, Trevor allowed five runs on eight hits through six innings of work and was dealt a no decision in the Pirates loss to the Dodgers on April 28.Williams has yet to face the Athletics in his major league career but does have a very good record against Interleague competition. In his eight career starts against American League teams Trevor has gone 5-1 with a 1.93 ERA.

Opposing Williams will be righty, Chris Bassitt. Bassitt has made just two starts for Oakland this season where he has gone 1-0 with a 0.75 ERA. In his last time on the mound, Bassitt shined, allowing just one run on a solo homer while striking out nine and walking none in seven innings of work on April 28 against Toronto.

Following their game this afternoon, the Bucs will once more face Oakland and then get a day off on Monday. After that the Pirates will take on the Texas Rangers twice before they start an 11 game road trip, where they will make stops in St. Louis, Arizona and San Diego.
