PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - The Pirates announced they have placed infielder Jung Ho Kang on the 10-day injured list with a left side strain and transferred pitcher Jameson Taillon from the 10- to the 60-day injured list.

As a result, they have selected the contract of infielder Jake Elmore from Triple-A Indianapolis.

Kang has been left out of the starting lineup in recent games, and last had a hit on April 26 against the Los Angeles Dodgers. His struggles at the plate have forced his batting average down to .133.

As part of a series of injuries to Pirates pitchers, Taillon has been out of the starting rotation since May 4 when he was placed on the 10-day injured list with a right elbow flexor strain.

Elmore was acquired by the Pirates from the Chicago White Sox on March 27. In 31 games with Triple-A Indianapolis, the 31-year-old has hit .380 with 12 doubles, two home runs and 16 RBI. He is with the team in Arizona ahead of their three-game series against the Diamondbacks beginning Monday evening.
