PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Prior to the start of their game against the New York Mets on Friday evening, the Pirates announced their latest roster move which involves an internal upgrade in their bullpen. The Bucs have decided to recall 25 year old right hander Alex McRae and will option right handed reliever Michael Feliz back down to AAA Indianapolis.

In his 20 outings in AAA this year, McRae has gone 3-8 with a 4.76 earned run average in 18 starts. McRae was called up for the first time in his professional career earlier in the month, on July 7. After spending just three days in the show, the Pirates sent him back to the minor leagues. McRae has yet to pitch in a major league baseball game.

Feliz, who came to the team as a part of the return in the Gerrit Cole trade, has struggled to find consistency with the Pirates in 2018. While Feliz has 47 strikeouts in 40.2 innings of work, his 0-2 record and 5.53 ERA show that he is not having the season the club had hoped he would. In his last outing on Thursday, Feliz allowed two runs off of three hits in two innings of work in the Bucs' 12-6 loss to the Mets.
