PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – The Pirates will look to get back to their winning ways after losing their last three series against the Padres, Reds and Cardinals as they begin a three game set against the Chicago Cubs Monday afternoon at PNC Park.

Leading 4-3 in the bottom of the eighth inning, the Pirates surrendered three runs and went onto lose 6-4 against the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday. With the loss the Pirates dropped down to fourth place in the National League Central division where they are now five games behind the first place Milwaukee Brewers.

On the mound today for the Pirates is right hander, Chad Kuhl. In 10 starts this season, Kuhl has a 4-2 record with a 4.20 earned run average. In his last time out, Kuhl pitched six innings where he allowed just one earned run on five hits while striking out six. In seven career starts against the Cubs, Kuhl has a 1-4 record with a 8.23 earned run average.

Opposing Kuhl will be lefty Mike Montgomery. Montgomery will be making his first start of the season following the Cubs placing Yu Darvish on the 10-day disabled list. Montgomery becomes the seventh Cub to start a game this season. Only the Rockies (five) and Phillies (six) have used less starters up to this point in the year. In 18 outings this year, Montgomery has an 0-1 record with a 5.33 earned run average.

Back in the lineup for the Bucs this afternoon will be Corey Dickerson who will bat fifth and play in left field. In his last 22 at bats against left handed pitching, Dickerson has nine hits. Overall, Dickerson has a .378 average against Southpaws this year. Along with Dickerson, Sean Rodriguez will get the start this afternoon at second base. Rodriguez has a .360 batting average in his 25 at bats against lefties so far this year.
