PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – In the midst of a Memorial Day weekend series, Pittsburgh will look to get back into the win column as they take on Los Angeles tonight at 7:05 at PNC Park. Last night, the Pirates (25-23) fell behind early and couldn’t recover, ultimately falling to the Dodgers (33-18) by a final score of 10-2.

On the mound this evening for the Buccos will be right hander, Joe Musgrove. In 10 appearances this season, which includes nine starts, Musgrove has gone 3-4 with a 3.67 earned run average, striking out 44 batters in 54 total innings. In his last time out, Musgrove earned his third win of the season against his home town team, San Diego, allowing four runs, three earned, on four hits and a walk while striking out four in 6.1 innings of work on May 19. Musgrove has faced the Dodgers twice in the regular season, where he has a record of 0-2 with a 3.09 ERA. He also faced Los Angles four times as a member of the Houston Astros in the 2017 Word Series where he went 1-0 in four innings of work allowing three earned runs.

Opposing Musgrove will be veteran lefthander, Hyun-Jin Ryu. Ryu has been one of the best pitchers in baseball so far this season, going 6-1 with a 1.52 ERA in his nine starts. Last time out, Ryu was dominant, pitching seven shutout innings, allowing five hits and a walk while striking out five in the Dodgers win over Cincinnati on May 19. Ryu enters Saturday leading all of major league baseball in ERA (1.52), BB/9 (0.6) and SO/BB Ratio (14.75). Throughout his career, Ryu has been great against Pittsburgh winning in each of the five times he has faced the Bucs and posting a 2.51 ERA.

After tonight, the Pirates will face Los Angeles once more before heading to Ohio to take on the Reds for four games in just three days. The Bucs will then return to the North Shore to being a four game series against the defending National League Central champion, Milwaukee Brewers.
