PITTSBURGH (93.7 the Fan) - Tough news for the Pitt basketball program on Monday, one player lost to injury while a second one is transferring.

Graduate transfer guard Sidy N’Dir will miss 4-6 weeks with an unspecified leg ailment.  N’Dir had a season-high 13 points against St. Louis and was the most experienced Pitt player and the back-up point guard.

“This is an unfortunate injury for Sidy as we felt he was really beginning to get back into form,” said head coach Jeff Capel.  “We are confident that with rest and rehab he will be back as quickly as possible.”

Also today, 6’6” sophomore forward Shamiel Stevenson announced he’s leaving.  The Toronto native appeared in four games this year after starting 13 and averaging 8.5 points and 4.4 rebounds a game as a freshman under Kevin Stallings last season.

“We support Shamiel’s decision to continue his academic and athletic career elsewhere,” Capel said.

Panthers have two more games before the ACC schedule begins, Thursday hosting New Orleans and Saturday, December 29 at home against Colgate.
