PITTSBURGH (93.7 the Fan) – Aaron Donald said it was a blessing to be able to give back to the city he was born and raised in and the university he grew up watching.”

“You never dream this big, you always have big dreams, but this is past something I ever expected to have the opportunity to do,” Aaron Donald said.  “To be here and give back to the athletes and future players, you really can’t put it into words.  It’s just a blessing.”

The 27-year-old Donald made a 7-figure donation to the Pitt Football Championship Fund on Friday, which serves the program in such key areas as facility improvement, recruiting, technology and student-athlete development.

Donald said he enjoys hanging out around the current team as he works out at the team’s South Side facility.

“I play around a joke with them, like I’m on the team with them,” Donald said of his relationship with current players.  “They know if they need any questions asked, about football or life, I’m just a guy working with them that is around.  At the end of the day, we are brothers.  Once you commit to the University of Pittsburgh, it’s in your blood.”

Even though Donald’s name is on the building, he will still call ahead to see if it’s ok that he can workout at certain times.

“For them to allow me to have access to the building, I want to make sure I’m not in the way,” Donald said.  “I just appreciate the love they give me.”
