PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - Penguins coach Mike Sullivan announced Thursday that Patric Hornqvist was diagnosed with a concussion after Tuesday night’s game against the Florida Panthers.

The concussion occurred after a puck deflected off Hornqvist’s stick and hit him in the face.

"We're always concerned when one of our players gets a concussion," Sullivan said Thursday. "We're concerned for the player, and the nature of concussions as we all know is that they're all very different.

"We're hopeful that Hornqvist can recover as quickly as possible and we can put him back in our lineup. We certainly miss him when he's not in our lineup."

Also out of the lineup is Zach Aston-Reese.

Aston-Reese will be out “longer-term” after sustaining an upper-body injury during the same game. He left the ice after a fight with Panthers' Colton Sceviour and did not return.

The Penguins kick off a five-game West Coast road trip Friday against the Anaheim Ducks at 10 p.m.
